Most upload problems have simple causes. Work through the sections below to find yours — and if you’re still stuck, email [email protected] and we’ll help.
My files are rejected or won’t upload
Uploads that fail validation are rejected with an error message telling you what’s wrong. Common causes:
- Unsupported file type. The image upload area accepts JPG files only. RAW/DNG files, videos, and other formats are rejected — set your drone to shoot JPG and re-export if needed.
- Corrupt files. A photo that was damaged during transfer from the memory card won’t open and can’t be processed. Try opening the file on your computer; if it won’t display, re-copy it from the card.
- Too many images. No more than 750 images can be uploaded per batch. Split very large flights into separate uploads.
- Duplicate files. If you see a “Selected files already uploaded” message, those images are already in the current upload list — you don’t need to add them again.
No map preview / missing GPS data
The upload page shows a map preview only when your images contain GPS metadata. If no preview appears:
- Your photos may be missing GPS EXIF data. Check one photo’s properties on your computer — it should list latitude/longitude.
- Common causes: taking off before the drone had a GPS lock, GPS disabled in the drone app, or an editing/export tool stripping the metadata.
- Photos without GPS data can’t be positioned during photogrammetry, so re-fly with a solid GPS lock if your set has none. See Drone and camera requirements.
The upload is very slow
Drone flights are hundreds of large photos, so upload time depends mostly on your internet connection’s upload speed.
- Use a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection rather than a cellular hotspot when possible.
- Pause other heavy internet use (video calls, backups) during the upload.
- Leave the browser window open — images upload with per-file progress indicators, and the Submit flight button becomes available once everything is up. (On Pay-Per-Upload, images intentionally wait and upload after payment clears.)
I closed or refreshed the browser mid-upload
Keep the window open until the upload has completed — leaving or refreshing the page interrupts any images still transferring.
If it happens, SilagePlan tries to help: when you return to the upload page you may see a “Pending upload from a previous session” notice. Your form data (farm, site, date) is restored — re-select your images and submit again, or choose Discard and start fresh. Already-submitted flights are not affected.
My image set is incomplete
If you notice after uploading that photos are missing (a pile skipped, a battery swap gap), the model may have holes. Email [email protected] with your farm, site, and date flown — depending on the gap, we may ask you to re-fly the missed area. Flight best practices helps you avoid gaps in the first place.
Payment issues (Pay-Per-Upload)
- If the payment popup doesn’t appear, your browser may be blocking popups — allow popups for app.silageplan.com and try again.
- If payment succeeds but auto-submit fails, your payment is recorded — the upload page recovers the paid session so you can submit without being charged twice.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] with your farm name, site name, date flown, and a description of what you’re seeing (a screenshot of any error message helps). See also Processing times if your upload succeeded but results haven’t appeared yet.
