Inventory V2 turns your measured inventory into forward-looking answers: how many days of each forage remain, when each feed runs out, and what your inventory will look like at month end or year end.
Days remaining · by forage
The Days remaining · by forage card is the fastest read on your feed position. For every forage it projects how long the current inventory lasts at your feed-out rates, and shows an All OK indicator when nothing is running low, so problems stand out immediately.
Projections need feed-out history to work from: feeding rates are measured from the inventory change between drone flights, not typed in. If the card says there’s no daily usage data yet, fly the site again so SilagePlan can measure how much left the piles — or enter per-day use in the forecast tool below. (Cows Fed and Animal Group in Feed Information drive the cost-per-cow display and group views, not the runout math.)
The card also shows each forage’s typical harvest date — how many days remain until the next harvest, and whether inventory bridges the gap. You can edit the typical harvest date per feed type right on the card.
Per-day use
The Per-day use card shows daily consumption in tons per day, on the As Fed or Dry Matter basis you have selected. The rates are measured between flights; entered feeding rates in the forecast tool take priority when set.
Projected inventory levels
The Total Inventory section can show more than the measured flight-day amounts. Switch the horizon to see projections:
- Flight Date — what the drone measured on the selected date.
- Today — measured inventory minus consumption since the flight.
- Month End / Year End — projected remaining inventory at those dates.
Tons and total value update with the selected horizon, so you can put a dollar figure on what you’ll have left. If no forecast data exists yet, the page tells you to switch back to Flight Date.
The forecast tool
Below the cards, Inventory V2 has a full chart-based forecast tool of its own:
- Auto mode is the forecast built from measured feeding rates. It updates itself and is not editable.
- Custom mode starts as a copy of Auto that you can edit — drag and drop blocks to re-order the feeding sequence, resize blocks to adjust usage, or enter a per-day use (PDU) value directly. Your edits take priority and are never overwritten by Auto.
- Reset returns Custom to the current Auto values. You’ll be asked to confirm first — resetting clears your custom per-day use, forecast order, and used-tons entries for the view.
- The Entity selector groups the forecast by Feed Type, Animal Group, or Feed Type + Animal Group.
- A Runout Date table and a Transitions list show when each feed empties and when one pile hands off to the next.
- A Smoothed PDU toggle smooths out outlier feeding rates; when no smoothing was needed, raw and smoothed values are identical.
In the All Sites view, a notice flags any site that needs a new flight to be included in the combined forecast.
Runout dates
A runout date is the projected day a feed reaches zero. Runout dates move as reality changes: each new flight re-anchors the projection to measured inventory, and edited feeding rates change the burn rate. Flying regularly keeps them honest — see Quick start for the measure–feed–re-fly rhythm.
The classic forecast tools
The classic Inventory page offers the original Auto Forecast / Custom Forecast tools. They read the same data as Inventory V2, so you can use either — see Create a forecast and Adjusting consumption rates.
